It is trainers' goal to reach level 40 in Pokemon Go. However, for most Pokemon Go players, it is not an easy task, because of the large amount of XP it will take to reach level 40, the current max level in Pokemon Go. The game has been around for three months, and there has been an increasing number of players who hit level 40. Except for players who use bot to reach level 40, the player who reaches level 40 without cheating appeared in September. Recently, in New York, there are three level 40 players, as shown below.

How many XP will it take to reach the max level in Pokemon Go?
It takes a total of 210,000 XP to reach level 20.
From level 1 to 5: 0.05*210,000
From level 5 to 10: 0.17*210,000
From level 10 to 15: 0.26*210,000
From level 15 to 20: 0.52*210,000
From level 20 to 25: 2.38*210,000
From level 25 to 30: 6.14*210,000
From level 30 to 35: 19*210,000
From level 35 to 40: 66.7*210,000
It takes 14,000,000 to level from 35 to 40, and 5,000,000 from 39 to 40 which is 35% of the XP. The first world's first player to reach level 40 is JimmEpitts from Team Instinct. To level up from 39 to 40, Jimmie only slept 4 hours per day. He played 10 hours every day and even 15 hours on holidays. He doesn't walk around a lot, and gradually accumulated his XP. He spent about $80 every week and totally used $700.
